PEP-RJ Book Club

We’re excited that discussion for our first book, Awakenings: American Jewish Transformations in Identity, Leadership, and Belonging, will include a talkback with the authors!

Is Judaism in North America dying? Is religious life in general on the wane? Or is Judaism thriving, but simply doing so outside those legacy institutions that have so far resisted change. In their new book, Rabbis Joshua Stanton and Benjamin Spratt invite debate about the future of Jewish communal life in North America, and claim that inspired, nimble religious organizations of all kinds are now retooling to meet the very different needs of today’s congregants. They show us new organizations now being created and argue that we are already witnessing the early stages of renewal in both Jewish life and in religious life outside Judaism.

This PEP-RJ members-only opportunity includes a free copy of the book.
Registration will close June 15.

Portfolio Zoom Calls

One of the best resources PEP-RJ has is our members! We are a group of passionate people who are dedicated to the work we do. To that end, we have three regular opportunities for our members to come together to learn from and with each other for the various job responsibilities our positions entail. Join one or join them all; we know you will feel uplifted and heard after participating in these calls.

First Wednesday of the month, 3:00 p.m. EST

Coordinators: Andrea Eifert and Ilene Tatro

The PEP-RJ Programs Monthly Call will offer a space for PEP-RJ members with programming in their portfolio to come together to share ideas, seek insight, learn from one another, and offer a dedicated space to hone their craft. Topics will include programs for different ages and stages, holiday and festival programming, new member programs, and more!

Programming Agenda/Notes/Zoom

Second and fourth Thursday of the month at 3:00 p.m. EST

Coordinator: Rebecca Rund

The bi-weekly PEP-RJ Communications call offers staff responsible for communications in their congregation a space to learn from another and improve the way in which they develop and deliver communications to their organizations.  We discuss issues and concerns; share ideas and resources; and serve as a sounding board for one another.

Informal First Fridays Happy Hour

Monthly on First Fridays at 1:00 p.m. EST

In addition to the portfolio-focused calls above, we have a monthly informal check-in / open forum where people join together to get to know each other, chat about what is top of mind, ask and answer questions, and just to see some friendly faces from outside of their own congregation.
